activity / idea
Kiss/make out without sexual touch.

suggested time range
7-10 minutes

Leave your spouse wanting more.

activity / idea
Set a reminder on your phone to pray a single-sentence prayer for your spouse every three hours. Ask your spouse how you can pray for them that day.

suggested time range
30 seconds or less, every three hours over the course of 48 hours

goal
To make prayer for your spouse—and seeking the Living Water—a regular part of your day.

activity / idea
Complete one chore usually handled by your spouse.

  • What’s one daily task that requires that last little bit of your spouse’s energy?
  • What’s that chore you know your spouse hates?
  • What chore, if you completed it for your spouse, would be the equivalent of a foot rub?

suggested time range
2-30 minutes

goal
Show love through an act of service.

activity / idea
“Date” after the kids are in bed, making the shared activity something other than movies and TV.

  • A version of your favorite board game where the winner gets a foot, hand, or back rub (winner’s choice).
  • Picnic in the bedroom: candles, takeout, blanket.
  • Stargazing.
  • Indoor s’mores (assemble s’mores and bake on a cookie sheet at 400° F, 3-5 minutes).
  • Complete a jigsaw or crossword puzzle while enjoying a music playlist.

suggested time range
1.5 hours

goal
To strengthen your marriage through quality time.

As you cool down, it’s time to reflect.

Read 1 Peter 3:8-9: “Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.”

Pray together, remember to stretch yourself this week for the sake of your spouse, and stay flexible with your growth:

Lord, open our eyes to see the goodness you’ve created in each of us–and in us together. Grow our affection and our unity from mind and heart outward. Help us respond to each other with tenderness even when we’re hurt.
