Bob: I don’t know if we realize it or not, but there is a connection between our relationship with God—our spiritual lives; how we’re doing spiritually—and our relationships with one another. If we’re continuing to harbor bitterness, or anger, or hatred toward someone—if we have not worked through the process of releasing those things, and pursuing forgiveness and reconciliation—that’s going to affect everything about your life and about your relationship with God.

Dave and Ann Wilson have been talking this week with Lysa TerKeurst, who’s written a book on this subject from her own experience. The book is called Forgiving What You Can’t Forget: Discover How to Move On, How to Make Peace with Painful Memories, and How to Create a Life That’s Beautiful. This is a book we’ve got in our FamilyLife Today Resource Center. You can go online at to request a copy, or call 1-800-FL-TODAY. Again, the website is The number to call is 1-800-358-6329; that’s 1-800-“F” as in family, “L” as in life, and then the word, “TODAY.”

And let me say—the issues of anger and bitterness/unforgiveness—these are issues that will show up from time to time. At our Weekend to Remember marriage getaways—couples who are coming, who are locked up in conflict, who are experiencing pain in their relationship—and they need help and guidance to know how to pursue oneness with one another when there has been profound hurt in a marriage relationship.

We have 30 Weekend to Remember marriage getaways happening this fall in cities all across the country. If you register today to attend one of these upcoming getaways, you and your spouse will save 50 percent off the regular registration fee. This is our incentive to get you to make plans now to join us in a city near where you live for a great weekend away together, where the two of you can relax, and refresh, and reconnect; and at the same time, grow in your understanding of God’s design for your marriage relationship.

You can find out more about the Weekend to Remember on our website, Call if you have any questions: 1-800-FL-TODAY is the number. Plan to join us at an upcoming getaway. Register today; because the 50 percent off special offer we’re making is available through Monday, September 13. There’s a limited time for you to take advantage of this special pricing. Again, go online at for more information; or call to register: 1-800-358-6329; that’s 1-800-“F” as in family, “L” as in life, and then the word, “TODAY.”

Now, tomorrow, we’re going to consider the relationship between forgiveness and trust, because they’re connected; but they’re not the same That’s important for us to understand. Lysa TerKeurst joins us, again, tomorrow. We hope you can join us as well.

On behalf of our hosts, Dave and Ann Wilson, I’m Bob Lepine. We’ll see you back tomorrow for another edition of FamilyLife Today.
